Diversified Plastics honors employee’s philanthropic legacy

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN–May 9, 2008–Diversified Plastics, Inc. will once again honor an exemplary employee in May by kicking off its annual Bonnie Schultz Memorial Food Drive.

Bonnie, who passed away in February of 2007, went through life with very little materially. Growing up as an orphan, her life wasn’t easy and her past could have made her bitter. But Bonnie rose above these obstacles to become a truly generous person. Giving not out of her family’s surplus, but making a real sacrifice. Bonnie, and her young children, Michael and Alyssa were usually the first to provide Christmas gifts for a needy family, send care packages to soldiers, or support someone’s school project.  Bonnie’s reason was always the same. “Because I knew what is was like to go without.”

Last year the goal was 300 pounds of food, supplies and money.  A challenge was also made to local businesses to match this amount.  This challenge was very well received with a total collection of 1,015 pounds.  This year Diversified Plastics goal was increased to 500 pounds. “Due to the current status of our economy, this may be difficult to meet but we’re up to the challenge and hope that the rest of the community will again respond faithfully and match our donations” says Janel Rosine, the Drive Coordinator.

Food, healthcare, hygiene supplies and money will be collected starting the first of the month and continuing through Memorial Day.

If you wish to help us continue her legacy of selfless giving, you can drop off your donations at: Diversified Plastics, Inc. 8617 Xylon Court North, Brooklyn Park, MN  55445. Or you can call us at 763-424-2525 for more information. 100% of any donations will go to CEAP in Brooklyn Park.
